I guess this answers my question of “Are peaches in season?”.

I filled out my first ever bracket for a team (league? group?) with some girlfriends for March Madness and I am so into it. The password to join said team was “fab”- clearly, this is a very, very serious bracket.
I think I am off to a good start! Pitt was my first loss and my hatred of Michigan made it impossible for me to pick them to win but other than that, this is super fun and am so excited to be invested in the Tournament more than just cheering on Michigan State!
Who is obviously going to take it all. Obviously. Go Green!
70. Surprises. The arrival of my first Alex and Ani bracelet c/o my co-friend Layne was the nicest Friday surprise!
71. Great Customer Service. I’m not saying I need a delivery of a cheese plate and wine every time I check in a hotel but I am saying it’s a really nice touch.
72. Sunrises. A reminder that there’s always a new start, literally just beyond the horizon.
73. Homemade bread. Proof that you really can make something out of nothing.
74. The promise of Spring. I bought these wedges with the good faith belief that since I have opened toed shoes to wear, Spring will come immediately. Verdict if this will actually work is still out.
75. Mariano’s. The best grocery store of all time. I miss living in the Lakeshore East neighborhood and going almost every day but my weekly Friday walk over to do my shopping is now seriously one of my favorite parts of my week.
76. Our Armed forces. 10 years ago today was the start of the Iraq war. I am so grateful for those who have served our country, anytime, anywhere.

Tonight was the launch party for Bloomingdales new shoe department. Drinking wine while trying on shoes = my kind of activity. The 3rd floor makeover looks beautiful, a much needed update…and of course tons and tons of shoes. The male models carrying trays with a single high heel on them was also a very nice touch- my fingers are crossed that they will be a permanent fixture…
Thanks for the invite, CS Magazine!
I was in Rome when Pope John Paul died and in Paris when the news broke that a new pope had been appointed. I was 20 years old and felt like I was in the center of the universe. Being surrounded by the cathedrals that had seen this happen for thousands of years and receiving the news via the ringing of bells, the rising of smoke and the reactions of Romans was all at once exactly how it should have been and very, very surreal. I remember thinking that I had to get back to Italy immediately to find out what was really going on, as if the TV and Internet didn’t exist.
Notre Dame students studying abroad in Rome posted this photo today and it brought back those memories of being so young and in the middle of such historical happenings. I really hope they’re drinking wine and stuffing their faces on pistachio gelato in Piazza Navona tonight.
I hope the cardinals conclave like a champion too.

Nordstrom had their Beauty Event on Saturday so I popped in to see what Steven and his NARS crew had up their sleeves. Their just-released Satin Lip Pencils blew me away. I’ve become a bit of a lip color girl but while I may love a color, I don’t really love the stickiness of gloss or smudging of lipstick. This Satin Lip Pencil is the solve for this. Every color was gorgeous and I ended up choosing a punch of pink for spring with Yu.
6 hours later and nary a touch up. My lip stayed on through a cup of tea, dinner, an episode of Mad Men, and a round of drinks at Watershed. I even woke up the next day with a slight rosiness still on my lips (I washed my face the night before, I swear). Review conclusion: fab colors, serious staying power, love how it felt and looked, can’t wait to pick up more colors.
Other beauty products I can’t live without:
– NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer
– Benefit They’re Real mascara
– Trish McEvoy Correct and Brighten pen
– Dior Skinflash
– NARS Duo Eyeshadow in Madrague
