“If you have someone that you think is The One… buy a plane ticket for the two of you to travel all around the world, and go to places that are hard to go to and hard to get out of. And if when you come back to JFK, when you land in JFK, and you’re still in love with that person, get married at the airport.”

Bill Murray ran across a bachelor party in Charleston this weekend (my bachelorette party missed him by a month! dang!) and gave this advice to the groom’s friends. Who would have thought that the guy behind “What About Bob?” could nail it like that? I may not be getting married at the airport but I could not agree with Bill more- find someone you adore…go through sticky situations, new situations, great situations, hard situations…abroad, locally, wherever…and if you emerge still adoring them? Marry them. Marry them immediately.

And the holiday weekend has begun!

New-to-me-tip: don’t buy tortilla chips, make fresh ones! Corn tortillas, cut in fourths, sprinkle with salt and smoked paprika, bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Bam.

And the tomatillo salsa from “It’s All Good.” I cannot believe I made this. This cookbook has been a game changer for my cooking- God bless you, Gwyneth.

Happy Weekending!

On Highs and Lows and a Life with Love

The last 4 days have gone something like this: hike a mountain, fly for 4 hours sitting directly next to the (highly trafficked) bathroom, pedicure, the most violent 12 hours stomach flu of my life, wedding dress fitting, a very emotional conference call to discuss showing love to a friend/co-worker facing a difficult season, Balena with my mom, drive to MI to give my slowly tiring out grandma a possible last hug, hop another plane, work trip, yoga.

Highs and lows. Up and down, quite very literally.

So much emotionality happening, no doubt, but once I remembered where I was when I woke up this morning, I thought how damn lucky I am to have people in my life I love so much. Because if I didn’t care about anyone or anything, there would be nothing attached to any high or low. It would just be.

So…highs and lows. Yes. Happening and necessary and a part of the deal in a life where there’s love. Fine by me.
