My love for non-profit Bright Pink is no secret (remember Fit Fest?) and now they have entered the bloggessphere!

beingbrightpink.com is their brand new blog, a space that they will use to “make sure young women have the tools they need to make empowered decisions about their health that allow them to live beautiful and fulfilling lives.”

Healthy living tips, health info and Bright Pink news…I can tell this is going to be a blog I frequent often!

Have a happy (and bright!) Friday!

Vogue’s Destination of the Month

I feel like my 10 year subscription to Vogue has now been worth it- they are finally giving Chicago some love!

Chicago has been chosen as Vogue’s Destination of the Month for August and reading Richard Alleman’s article reminded me once again how many shades of awesome our fair city is.

“Mind boggling” architecture? Check!

Music Festivals catered by celebrity chefs?  Check!

World class (and Michelin starred, might I add!) eats?  Check, check and check!

And come summer, Chicago might as well be one big beach town.

Nothing like having how you feel about your hometown confirmed by the world’s most important fashion magazine.

Technology Win

adminUncategorized%s Comments

I know people go on and on about how technology has replaced human interaction and how that’s such a tragedy but tonight while texting with my best friend, we both shared some tidbits that totally would have gotten lost in our “let’s get caught up on all the hugely monumental things that are happening in our lives” phone conversations.  By having that medium to just word vomit some random shiz, we got some things off our chests, had a good chuckle and can now move into tomorrow feeling like someone knows what the heck is going on in our heads.

Tonight, I’m grateful for that…technology that allows us to get close even when we’re far away.

Vacation Requirements

Ryan and I are taking a vacation in a few weeks, my first week long vacation since I entered the real, live, adult working world.  This picture sums up my vacay requirements- relaxing, full of light and a comfy spot for a few good naps.

Can we photoshop a glass of cold white wine on that little table though?

Sweet summertime.

Bargain Blooms

I love having fresh flowers at home and since I was having guests this past weekend, I wanted something extra special (read: I was willing to spend more than my usual $5.99 at Trader Joe’s).  I typically view roses as being pricey but a dozen of these gorgeous blooms were only $9.99 at Dominick’s!  Are you kidding me?!

Beautiful and a bargain.  I’m in.

Green City Market Love

The Green City Market is possibly my favorite thing on the planet.  My deal with myself is that I bring a $20 and then that’s it- it’s not cheap farm fresh goods but going from vendor to vendor, sampling raspberries and cheese, smelling fresh herbs and seeing tomatoes in all colors of the rainbow is just to awesome to pass up.

Today, we met this guy:

Paul Friday, creator if Flamin’ Fury peaches.  Paul made genetic crosses of different peaches and eventually created the best peaches in the world.  I’m not kidding you- I have never tasted a peach like this before.  The name “Flamin’ Fury” is from his two red headed grandchildren…one of whom has grown up and was working alongside her grandfather this morning.  So cool!

Flamin’ Fury peaches, Green City Market, mint-infused chamomile tea, 2 puppy spottings.  Chicago summer Saturdays…it doesn’t really get any better.

Happy Hour

My parents are in town this weekend so first thing on the agenda was a walk- a G family Happy Hour.

Chicago vets they are but I wanted to show them my favorite spot in the city, a place that they probably haven’t experienced before.

You see, if you go out past Shedd Aquarium to the Adler Planetarium and stay on the lakefront, you find a spot that I think is really something.

Right as you round the corner on the backside of the planetarium, there is about 20 yards where the city disappears.  Tall buildings are out of sight, the sound of hustle and bustle subside and it’s just…water.

Sure, there were Friday celebratory Goose Island Summertime brews when we got back to my apartment but that walk, that view and my family was the ultimate happy hour.
