Be happy this isn’t you.

Or look at this picture of a cat riding a rooster.

Summer was here. Then it left. And now, I think Chicago is experiencing something like Spring.

Rather pretty, don’t you think?

“Babe, meet me at the grocery. I was watching Triple D and got the best idea for dinner.”

At 6:30pm and lord knows how many “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives“, when your boyfriend texts you this, it most likely will not end well.

But lo and behold, it did. Shrimp tacos with some special jalapeño and lime sauce Guy Fieri dug out of a fish taco stand in San Diego. It was so cold today that I would have settled for grilled cheese but when you (apparently) live with a culinary whiz kid, you suck it up and devour delicious, fresh, flavorful tacos.

It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.

Happy Monday, indeed!

I am feeling super weird about a whole slew of things and after a 6 miler on the Lakefront this morning and long walk with Ry around our neighborhood this evening, this is my solution: hustle.

I am going to hustle my work skills, blow some deliverables out of the water and arrive at Friday feeling like I have flexed my creative muscles and generally been awesome. I am going to hustle my prioritizing skills in my personal life. I have found myself saying “I don’t have time for that” a lot lately when really what I mean is “It’s not a priority”. We all have time for the things we want to make time for; I am going to stand for creating time for things I have prioritized and get real (and make peace) with myself with the things that do not fall in that category.

And my physical hustle? Running. I am relishing my time pounding the pavement lately.

I find I am more successful when I go into things with a set intention so this week, I am all about the hustle. Let’s go Monday- I am coming for you.

See Ya Next Season…

Well, that was all sorts of awful.

In college, we all would have drown our anger/sorrows with LouHa’s $3 Thursday margs…you know, with the tequila that kinda tasted like formaldehyde.

In the adult world, where I have to work tomorrow? Sure, I went on a bender…a Facebook unfriending bender. If you had something I didn’t like for dinner, posted something about your child’s bodily fluids, if I couldn’t remember how I knew you, or if your profile pic gave me the stink eye, chances are you got the heave-ho.

Neither boozing or unfriending will make the Spartans losing in the Sweet Sixteen go away but at least there’s no hangover involved in the latter.

Good season, Michigan State. Going from unranked to a number 1 seed ain’t too shabby.

But you totally busted my bracket.

two orphaned baby burrowing owls, nicknamed linford and christie, have moved into the home of their keeper Jimmy Robinson. The owlets were hatched in an incubator at longleat safari park, wiltshire, and are now being hand-reared by jimmy. the native american birds, which get their name from living in small burrows in the wild, can find plenty of nooks and crannys about his flat to hide. “tea cups and bookcases are a particular favourite,” says jimmy, “but it’s good to see them developing their natural behaviour and they always seem to find me at meal times.” – telegraph | via apsies

Let’s file this under “Why won’t anyone let me have owls?”. Because I, too, happen to love tea cups and bookcases.
