Chatbooks

I really love Instagram. I love taking photos, I love posting little stories along with them, I love seeing photos popping up on my feed of what others are sharing and getting to see what matters to people through these images. When I scroll through what I have posted, it feels like a photo diary where I get to remember snippets of moments. And I have it with me all the time because it’s on my phone.

But remember back in the day (omg, the early 2000s!) when you would actually print out photos and –gasp– put them in an album? And you could flip through them with your hands and show other people? Yeah. There’s something to that too.

So, Chatbooks. It’s this app that takes your Instagram feed and turns it into little 60 page books. You can choose if you want your captions to show up or locations but that’s pretty much all the work involved. Name your series of Chatbooks, pay the $6 per book, and poof, you have sweet little photo albums that just show up at your door.

The photo quality is actually really good (something I didn’t count on being only 6 bucks each) and it is so cool to have these photos I love in my hands. I think they will be cool to set on the coffee table for people to thumb through and to just have around. It just shows such a fun moment-in-time look at the last few years.

One Day HH

Over on Instagram today, I am participating in the Hollywood Housewife’s One Day project, documenting those little things that happen in our everyday lives that might not make the cut in texts we send our loved ones or the blog or regular Instagram feed. Life happens in moments that aren’t picture perfect or planned, imagine that. Follow along with me- NinaintheChi!

Here’s the first pic I posted today. I start almost everyday with a long walk. It’s my time to gather my thoughts, call my Dad, listen to music and get fresh air in my lungs. A few mornings a week, Ryan and I get up early so we can get out together. It’s just something that really lets me feel like I already have something under my belt before I start my day.

Today, I saw the beginnings of Christmas cheer on my walk and it made me happy. Especially since I was listening to A Charlie Brown Christmas…actually, is the Vince Guaraldi Trio even considered Christmas music? It’s just really good jazz in my book, therefore available for year ’round listening.

Happy Hump Day, friends.

Stickygram

I love Instagram and its filters that allow me to look like I have serious photography skills. I have some of my favorite shots printed and on the fridge right now but they have tape on their corners that are lifting up and I hate crap all over the fridge almost as much as I hate crap sitting out on the counter (a toaster is not decor). Enter Stickygram, a company that turns your Instagram photos into magnets. I chose my favorite Chicago shots, uploaded them to Stickygram and less than a week later, my little magnets made their way across the pond (Stickygram is based in the UK).

And I LOVE them. They are the organized, perfectly proportional answer to my front of fridge woes. It’s fun to see the Chicago love every time I am in the kitchen, know that I took those images and the memories connected to them and have my fridge not look so cluttered. I am excited to order some as gifts- at $14.99 and free shipping, I can’t think of a better personal little presie. Well done, Stickygram.
